Family is so important!

This blog update is dedicated to my Great-Grandma Pete. Up above their is a family picture of all the Petersen's from this past summer at the family reunion. The other pictures are of great grandma Pete with Hannah, Sophie, Drew, Carly, and Josie. My great grandma Pete was an amazing woman. She is now an angel in heaven watching over all of us.

When I was born, great grandma Pete, aunt Amy, and grandma Marcia took care of me at Ladybug Learning Center while mommy and daddy went to work. Once the daycare closed grandma Pete would come up and spend time with us at grandma Marcia's. She would play with us, rock us, and love on all of us. When my sister Josie was born, grandma Pete loved to hold and rock her, even when she was fussy. The picture above with Josie, as a tiny baby (about 4 weeks old), was when she was extremely fussy. Grandma Pete decided to take her outside and sit with her. For once, Josie was a content baby thanks to grandma Pete. She actually fell asleep and did not cry. Grandma Pete had her ways with a baby.

The last weekend we saw grandma Pete before she went into the hospital we went up to her apartment. Uncle Pete was there and Josie rocked with grandma the whole time. I'm sure grandma Pete was so happy that Josie actually wanted to sit and rock with her. We also shared brownie sundaes with Uncle Pete and grandma. I am so glad that we spent some quality time with her before she passed away. I will always remember those brownies sundaes and how happy she was to see us at her apartment.

Grandma Pete will always have a special place in all of our hearts. She will continue to watch over us and keep us all safe. She will give us strength to live everyday to the fullest with no regrets. We love you grandma Pete.

Please take the time to show your family how much you love them because you never want to have any regrets.

I love you great grandma Pete.

Love,

Drew Thomas Meyers

Happy 4th Birthday Drew Drew!

My Best Buddy, Cali Bach and me of course!

Well, I'm sorry it has been so long again. My mommy just can't keep up with the blog. Since my last post, we have had Thanksgiving, Christmas, my birthday, and Valentines Day is tomorrow. We had a wonderful Christmas. We went to Gma and Gpa Meyers on Christmas Eve and then had a busy Christmas Day at our house and gma and gpa Mauer's. Josie and I got what we wanted from Santa. I got a train table and a Stop sign and Josie got a kitchen set. We were very content with the very little things that we got under the tree from Mommy and daddy and then when my parents told us that Santa had left presents in the play room, Josie and I were even more excited. We played all day, but Josie was not feeling very well. She was running a fever and not her fun playful self. That night we went to gma and gpa Mauer's and got to open more presents. I got two Nerf guns and they are so awesome to play with. The days following Christmas Josie still was not feeling well and had to go to the Dr. She had a really bad sinus infection. It was so bad she had snot coming out of her eyes. It was gross. After 17 days of an antibiotic and some steroids due to her getting croup, she was on her way to getting better. Only to find out 4 weeks later, she got croup again. Mommy has started her back on Prevacid because the doctor has explained that constant croup goes along with acid reflux. I guess time will tell.

After Christmas, we had my4th birthday party. I was kind of crabby when people started arriving as mommy had to wake me up. I was so crabby that mommy let me open a present from gma and gpa Meyers as soon as they walked in. I guess after that every time somebody walked in I thought it was okay to grab their present and open it. Nobody got to see all the cool presents that I got. Mommy feels bad because she didn't even know who to thank for what. Here is my THANK YOU to everyone for coming and bringing me the cool gifts. I enjoyed everyone of them.

Now that the holidays are over I will just share a little bit about my sister and I. I am now 4 years old and still going to preschool 2 days a week 1/2 days. I love school. My teachers told my mom that I am so well behaved, share with my friends, and get a long with everyone. Mommy has a hard time believing that I am so good at school because I am still ornery at home. I don't always follow directions right away so mommy and daddy get frustrated. I still have a hard time using words instead of kicking or hitting someone when I don't like what has happened. I am working on that. Mommy and daddy bought a new timer so we are starting to work on setting time limits for everything. One of my favorite things to do right now is play the Lego game on daddy's PlayStation 3. I would spend hours doing this if my mommy and daddy would let me. I also like to play on the IPad or the Nintendo DS. I guess you could call me a gamer now. Enough about me, let's talk about Josie.

Josie has been a sick little girl this fall and winter. She has now had croup like 15 times in her life. She just can't kick a cold without getting croup. As you can see from the picture above, Josie climbs on everything. She no longer requires a gate on the stairs because she jumps over it. She is able to climb on the chairs and get on to the island in the kitchen so she has to be watched all the time. She has managed to draw on the TV screen in the kitchen, broke the screen on the window from climbing on the window sill, and continues to climb and push limits everyday. She loves the Gigglebellies and watching them every night before she goes to bed. She is still in a crib, but mommy and daddy have been trying to get me to allow her to sleep with me. They think she would make me sleep in my bed all night. According to mommy, Josie is a much better sleeper than I have ever been. Oh well!

I'm sorry that we have a hard time keeping up with the blog, but there is just so much going on. Mommy is going to start coaching my soccer team again this spring. I love when she coaches. I will get to play with the same kids that I played with last fall and adding two more of my friends/neighbors. I can't wait for March! Mommy and daddy are doing well. Mommy stays busy teaching her "naughty kids" everyday and daddy is still at Con Agra. I hope all is well with everyone and hope to talk to you soon.

We are back!

Obviously my mommy, daddy, Josie, and I have been busy. I started pre-school, which is the single picture by myself, in September and I love it. I go to school two days a week in the morning. I have met several new friends. Mommy also started school. She has been so busy since they reduced staff in the special education department at her work. She brings so much work home every night. She is supposed to be doing that work right now, but instead she wants to let you know what we have been up to. Daddy is working at ConAgra and it has been a wonderful move for him. He never travels anymore and Josie, mommy, and I love that. Daddy is also home in the morning so we get to give him kisses in the morning also. As for Josie, she is CRAZY, just like me. She is running around, talking, and climbing on everything. Mommy and daddy have taken our kitchen chairs and placed them in the bathroom because Josie kept climbing on the island. I guess she takes after me.

Josie is currently saying lots of words. She is able to say, "hot dog, NO, more, uh uh (especially when mommy and daddy tell her to get down from their bed), and outside." She also says a lot of other words, but we can't always understand her. Josie is still in the crib, but probably not for long. I actually taught her how to climb in the crib, but mommy got mad. I guess mommy wants her to stay in the crib a little longer. As for her health, she currently has Croup again. She has had croup 9 times in her life, 3 times since August. Mommy talked to the Dr. today and Josie is going to go on an allergy medicine to see if that helps. Other than the croup, Josie is doing great. She is almost 24 pounds and pure energy. She laughs and plays with me all the time. At times she even wakes me up when I am sleeping. I get very mad when she does this, but mommy and daddy laugh. I love my little sister, Josie Nicole Meyers.

Mommy has been going through a lot of medical things right now, but nothing really serious. She had to have a procedure a couple weeks ago to help with some issues that happened after Josie. She also has been getting injections of cortisone in her hip in order to keep going to the gym. The Dr. thinks she has bursitis, but are not 100% sure. Other than these minor things, mommy is busy. She gets up at 4:30 in the morning 2-3 times a week to go to the gym so she can spend time with Josie and I after work. That is amazing because that is really early. I love my mommy so much!

Daddy has been working hard at work and is getting ready to have a birthday. He will be 34 years old the day before Turkey Day. I can't wait for his birthday cake with candles. My daddy is the best. Daddy and Papa Meyers built my sister and I an awesome swing set. It took them 30 hours to complete the task, but it is so awesome. Josie and I love to play on the swings and the slides. Thanks daddy and Papa for all your hard work and for making my sister and I so happy to have our own play area. I love my daddy the best!

As for me, I am almost 4 years old. "When I turn 4 I am going to sleep in my bed all night long." Speaking of my bed, mommy and daddy rearranged my bedroom and I got a t.v. in my room. Mommy thinks that a t.v was a bad idea, but she wanted to try it to see if I would stay in my room. I guess she doesn't understand that I'm not 4 yet. I am starting to make my Christmas and birthday list so hopefully I get everything I ask for. Some of my new sayings are: damn it (that comes from mommy);I hate you; actually...; your stupid; when I flush the toilet I say bye bye, don't come back tomorrow; tricked you; and pretty much anything that is on my mind. For the I hate yous and your stupid I have to sit in time out. Mommy and daddy don't really like those words.

The last story that I'm going to tell you is my last trick I played on my parents. It was the worst trick ever. Mommy, daddy, Josie, and I went to NFM the other day to look at bunk beds for me. I decided to take off from mommy and daddy. Mommy and daddy were frantic and looking all over for me. The store clerks were looking all over and mommy was crying. After hearing my name several times and seeing my mommy cry I popped out from behind the wall I was standing behind. I feel bad that I tricked my parents and made mommy so upset. I cried because I thought my mommy would not like me anymore. I am so glad that I came out from hiding behind that wall. I love my mommy, daddy, and Josie so much.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Love,
Drew

Summer is gone and school has started!

Summer went by way to fast. We had a very fun summer with mommy and daddy. Josie and I went swimming almost everyday that we could. I took swimming lessons and by the end of the summer I would say I became a pretty good swimmer. I now can put my head under water and I also went off the board several times as long as someone caught me. Josie loved the water until the end of summer and then she was done with the pool and wanted to just run around the outside area chasing bugs. Besides going to the pool, we played at grandma Marcia's with my cousins and the Bach's. We had so much fun. Our family vacation was to Houston in July. This year we went for 10 days, which mommy and daddy decided that was way too long for Josie and I. The first couple of days we went to aunt Cathy and Uncle Scott's ranch. I got to ride on 4 wheelers, Polaris' (sp), and other cool toys. I got to go fishing with daddy and of course the dogs. Thank God we didn't see any scorpions or rattle snakes. After our trip to the ranch, we went back to Cathy and Scott's house and played hard. We spend one afternoon at the Wild Safari Park. It was so awesome. The picture above shows me petting a camel with my cousin Jackson. We saw giraffe, deer, hippos, emu, zebras, camels, and many other exotic animals. We got to feed a lot of the animals on the drive around the park. Josie wanted nothing to do with the animals. She played and ate the animal food that we had. She was content with this and she got extra protein for the day. We had so much fun in Houston, but mommy and daddy realized that the trip threw Josie and my sleeping schedule all off. Josie was up every night and ended up sleeping with mommy, daddy, and me of course. Mommy says that part of the trip was so awful. Since we have been home, Josie has been back on her schedule fighting some molars coming in. As for me, I still wake up in the middle of the night and climb into my parent's bed, but they don't even realize it until the morning. Last week, I went to my preschool orientation. I was a little scared, but after seeing all the toys I can't wait to go back. I also had my first soccer game. Mommy is our coach and I didn't last long. The first play of the game I was heading for the goal and ran smack into another kid. I cried and never went back into the game. Maybe this upcoming game, I will be more of a participant. Some of my new things are eating cucumbers straight from gma Marcia's garden, saying "you can't catch me, slow poke", watching Wow Wow Wubzy, eating chocolate, playing outside, riding my scooter or bike, digging in the dirt, and just being onory. I continue to be a busy bee. As for J, she is just as busy. She is running all around. She loves to play on the VTECH giraffe bike, just like I did. She loves crackers and pretty much anything you put in front of her. She is little but she is tough. She continues to chase me and play hard. Her new thing is to come up behind me and pull me over. It has become a game that we play, but mommy keeps telling me that somebody is going to get hurt. As you can see in the video below Josie is one tough cookie. Her new things are saying "bye bye", waving, "more", and climbing the side of the steps (which I taught her). She now weighs 22 lbs and I weigh 38 pounds. Neither one of us are very tall. I am in the 50th percentile for height and as for J, she probably is about the same. I hope all is well with everyone. Wish me luck at preschool next week. I'm sure mommy may need some luck also so she doesn't cry. Talk to you soon.

Oh and the cake was messed up!

I forgot to tell you that Josie's birthday cake was messed up. Her new name is Jose. That doesn't really go with Meyers. Hy-Vee has officially screwed up her Baptism and her Birthday cake. Go Hy-Vee.

Josie turned 1 and summer is so much fun!

My family has been very busy already this summer. We spent the first week of summer at the pool everyday. The water was bitter cold at Cabana since they don't heat the water. Josie and I still get in it, but burr. My mommy has dropped Josie off a couple of times at gma Marcia's and picked up Hannah and Sophie, which makes it much easier for mommy to hang out with me on the steps at the pool. I still won't go under the water, but mommy and daddy are putting me into swim lessons in July. Hopefully by the end of summer I will be a big swimmer. We have also made a couple trips to the zoo, which my sister doesn't really like. She cries because she is strapped into the stroller and can't get out and run all over. As you can see we also had the water slide out at the Bach's and J and I loved it. My sister kept climbing on the bottom of the slide, which made mommy nervous. As for me, I just kept running up the slide and that also made mommy nervous as I could have fallen off the side. Not only have we been on the go this summer, my little sister turned one. We had her birthday party at our house. She was very crabby from cutting her front teeth. She didn't even like her cake. She just wanted to go to bed. Mommy and daddy say that they are using J's money to buy a new swing set for both of us. I can't wait until they get that purchased and up so I can go play on it. I think I'm more excited about it then J. Josie went to the Dr. yesterday and she ways 20 lbs and 12 oz and is 29 inches long. These measurements put her in the 40th percentile for both. Mommy always calls her a peanut and she really is one. All is good with her health and mine. As for new things for me: I still love to ride my bike in the house, climb in bed with mommy and daddy at some point during the night, have a strong vocabulary and ask what new words mean everyday, love to play games on the computer all by myself, read number signs while walking with my parents and J, love to play outside, learned to ride my scooter, and most importantly LOVE eating peanut butter straight out of the jar with a spoon....while double dipping. As for my sister, she is walking/running all over, she loves anything we feed her...but no peanut butter for her, she has been sleeping through the night in her own bed since her tubes were put in her ears in March, she no longer has a bottle, starting to talk in her own language...but understands what we are saying, loves playing outside and with her baby dolls, her feelings get hurt easily, she hates loud noises or when mommy or daddy raise their voice. The one thing that bothers me about my sister is that she is starting to get into my train track stuff. I yell at her and it usually makes her cry. I feel bad, but she usually leaves me alone. I love my sister, J, and she loves me. She loves to cuddle with me, but I don't always like it because she sometimes pulls my hair. J and I are doing great and so is my family. We are lucky enough at this point to not have any family members directly in the path of the flood. We continue to pray for those people, especially our friends, Erin, Scott, Kiera, and Brennen Hochstein. Please pray for those around us.

First ER Visit

Ok so it has been awhile since my mommy has blogged, but she really can't keep up with all of it. The new curriculum for reading is overwhelming her and very time consuming. However, that can't be her excuse in 14 days when summer arrives. So here you go Carla........

Easter was a success at our house. The Easter bunny arrived in the morning and we went egg hunting at both grandmas. It was a blast. My sister got a pillow pet and I got coloring books and the ice cream playdoh set. I love playing with the playdoh, but mom hates it. Everytime I drop the playdoh, Josie eats it or tries to eat it. Mommy gets annoyed and therefore she puts it up. Thanks gma and gpa for the Easter gifts.

Last Wednesday, I managed to land myself in the Emergency Room. Mommy was on her way to get me and gma called her to make sure she was almost there because I had dropped the transformer to the train on my foot. It cut my foot and pretty much smashed it. It was bleeding everywhere by the time mommy got there. Thank God for that direct line to a specific nurse. Mommy called Carla and she told her to bring me up to see Dr. Shawn. (Thanks Carla!!!!) Dr Shawn took one peek and sent us on our way to the ER. I got a Ketamien (sp) shot, which pretty much knocked me out. I was awake, but didn't know anything was going. The Dr. put a block for pain in my toe and then put 4-5 stitches in my pinkie toe. When I woke up, I didn't know anything had really happened. All I wanted was to go to the hospital. Mommy says I was talking about robots and daddy pretending to be a Dr. (Andy had a blue shirt on just like the Dr.). That night I was in some pain, but since then I have slowed down a tiny bit for the most party I am my crazy old self.

Speaking of my crazy old self, one of my new favorite things is to ride my bike in the house, especially right after my mommy mops the hardwood floors. It makes her so mad and I just giggle and ride away from her. I put my sister on a chair and then run away. Mommy says I don't realize that she can fall off and crack her head. I also share all my food with her. She loves when I give her chocolate or powder sugar donuts. I continue to take things from her and then she cries, but I just love to play with her.

My sister, J is doing great. She is pretty much running and is into everything! Gma Marcia thinks she is even busier than Drew was at that age. Mommy thinks that she should weigh 100 pounds by the end of summer. HA!!!! J climbs on the bike each morning and loves to watch Mickey Mouse. She still takes naps in the infant car seat. She loves to eat whatever I leave on the ground. Mommy yelled at me one day because J was eating a peanut butter granola bar. I'm pretty sure she ate most of it before mommy freaked out so I'm guessing she doesn't have any allergies to peanut butter. She is starting to talk up a storm, but of course mommy and daddy don't understand her. I try to talk back to her, but it ends in a screaming match and usually I can scream louder. My sister and I are doing wonderful. I hope all is well with everyone!!!!!

These words are from mommy:

It is the most amazing thing to have children, but it is more amazing to watch them play together. Drew and J get along so well and J looks up to her brother so much. With Mother's Day just the other day it has made me realize how blessed I am to have the family that I do. I am so thankful for my husband, two children, and the rest of the awesome family that we have.
